Daikin Air Handlers and Evaporator Coils

Why the Indoor Equipment Matters
The outdoor unit gets most of the attention, but the air handler and evaporator coil determine how evenly a home is heated and cooled. Variable-speed air handlers ramp the blower up and down to deliver steady airflow, temperature and humidity throughout the house.
The evaporator coil usually sits on top of the furnace. As warm air passes over the cold coil, it is cooled and dehumidified at the same time. A properly matched, high-efficiency coil helps the whole system reach its rated performance.

Daikin Indoor Equipment
- DVPEC and DVPTC air handlers: Variable-speed, multi-position air handlers; the DVPEC is part of the ComfortNet communicating family.
- ASPT and ARUF air handlers: Multi-position units for new or retrofit work; the ASPT has a 21-inch-deep cabinet for attic access.
- MBVC and MBR modular blowers: Modular blowers for upflow, downflow and horizontal applications, with the MBVC built for Daikin FIT compatibility.
- Wall and ceiling air handlers: AWUF/AWUT wall- or stud-mounted units and the ceiling-mounted ACNF electric heat air handler.
- Cased and uncased coils: All-aluminum CAPT, CAPF/CAPFA, CAPE/CAPEA and CAUF/CAUFA coils for split air conditioners and heat pumps.
- Horizontal coils: CHPF, CHPE and CSCF horizontal coils for attic and crawl-space installations.

Frequently asked questions
-
Do I need to replace the coil when I replace the outdoor unit?
Usually yes. Matching the coil to the new outdoor unit is important for efficiency and reliability, and it is required for many refrigerant changes.
-
What is the difference between an air handler and a furnace coil?
An air handler contains its own blower and coil and is typically paired with a heat pump. A cased coil sits on top of a furnace, which supplies the blower.
